Below are some helpful tips to know about how to reset profiles, reset Hinge/Bumble algorithms, what happens to your profile, likes, matches and messages when resetting profiles and how often you should reset a profile on dating apps.
Pro-tip: resetting it too much can get banned if too many people keep seeing your profile and get tired of swiping left and opt to report you instead. Also, resets won’t help much unless you optimize your dating profile first.

Even if you use all the methods and tips below to restart your profile, it’s likely you will get banned again if you repeat the behavior that led you to being banned in the first place or getting low quality matches over time.
Before resetting your profile, it’s important to have self-awareness about your appearance, profile, photos, hobbies, conversation skills, location, smiles, wardrobe etc so you can address all the items needed to be successful on dating apps.
Resets are popular for those that refuse to get better photos or unwilling to upgrade for boosts or premium features on dating apps.It doesn’t make sense to reset your profile unless you make significant investments in upgrading your prompts, profile and photos.
It’s tempting to try to hack your way through dating apps to get more visibility but often these strategies can cause more harm than good. Most likes from resets and boosts come from people outside your radius / demographics or are bots, scammers or those seeking IG followers.

Dating App Algorithms, New User Boosts On Hinge, Bumble, Tinder
Apps like Hinge and Bumble are freemium dating apps. You can use them effectively without paying for boosts, but many people upgrade their accounts for increased visibility and more likes.
When a user creates a new profile, they are shown to many people early on to get them hooked. After a few days, this boost wears off and then they are shown less.
Algorithms take time to process new accounts and will give new accounts the benefit of the doubt as to train it effectively, but also leverage monetization efforts down the road once likes and matches stop rolling in.
For those that have good profiles and photos, the likes may slow down but still come through regularly however, most people see a dramatic drop off after a few weeks.
In an attempt to regain visibility, likes and matches people will reset their profiles by creating new accounts or uninstalling the app for a period of time in hopes that apps are sensitive to the decreased engagement levels and give them a new boost once the app is loaded back up.
The more hooked you are on dating apps, the less likely apps are to offer you more than you need. It’s best to use apps moderately i.e. 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes to maintain a balance of engagement.
If you use dating apps too much or for too long, people will recognize your profile and swipe left accordingly (and possibly more often than before because those that might have liked you previously likely won’t do so again).
The more left swipes you experience (and less time people spend reviewing a profile before swiping on you) will impact how often you are shown to people and to whom your profile is shown to.

Chances are you are being shown less over time but also everyone that liked you already did. If you never got likes to begin with, it’s likely you have bad profile photos. Most people never get unbiased feedback on their profiles.
It could be your first photo is awful. It could be you worst photo is cringy. It could be your answers to prompts are lazy. It could be range of things – review this checklist to see where you are can review your effort and make improvements. And of course, don’t be creepy.

Dating Profile Fatigue – Being On Apps Too Long (Frustration, No Likes, No Matches)
Dating profile fatigue is when others either easily recognize your profile (cringe main profile photo), see multiple likes and messages from you or just see your profile often in the app (or across other apps) and are tired of seeing you repeatedly. This is likely to happen when users reset their profiles too often.
This is super important because even if you improve your profile, people tend to remember cringy profiles and photos which is why I tell all clients not to start using dating apps until you have decent photos.

The more you reset your profiles, the more likely you are to be reported by other users for suspicious behavior or alleged duplicate profiles or just bad user experience i.e. seeing the same profile over and over again despite swiping left on them.
Alternatives To Dating Profile Resets, How To Get More Likes, Matches Naturally
Changing the main profile photo helps a little (especially if it’s a good one) but if you have photos or bios that are hard to forget, people will easily put 2 and 2 together and realize this is the same profile they swiped left on before. It’s better to take a break and make significant changes to your profile rather than make small tweaks over time.
The other thing to consider is deactivating Tinder Smart Photos. By design, it will show your worst photo first some of the time. The golden rule of dating apps is “You are only as attractive as your worst photo.”
Improving the weakest link in your profiles will go a long way. Typically 4-6 photos are suggested for a profile but never add more photos for the sake of filling up the slots – fewer better photos are better than adding a few mediocre or bad photos.
Make sure you have enough decent photos in your profile. Most people self-sabotage their profile with too many selfies, hat photos, sunglasses photos, group photos, distant photos, gym photos, fish photos and lack of photos with smiles. Relax, smile, dress well, use natural light to get better photos that get more likes.

Profile Boosts, Paid Add-Ons On Dating Apps (Hinge, Tinder, Bumble)
I advise all clients to improve their photos rather than pay for these boosts. They are largely ineffective as it mostly shows your profile to more bots, spammers, IG models and people outside your age and radius.
The other thing people fail to notice is that if you boost your profile with profile resets, it will accelerate your visibility to people who left swiped on your already and expedite reporting to apps and possible bans – you are basically paying apps to ban you more quickly. It’s counterintuitive but just think about that for a minute.
Paying for boosts or subscriptions does not decrease the likelihood that you will remain on the platform longer than if you were a free user.

If you have done something to insult, or ridicule someone else on the platform, expect said person to not only swipe left on you but also report you for being back on the app. A profile reset can escalate the number of complaints against you leading to more immediate and permanent bans on your profile.
Trying to game the system or hide your previous activities is not going to be helped by a profile reset here. It creates a bad user experience for others as they lose more money from users who have a poor experience and don’t need your $10/month as the costs outweigh the benefits.

When To Reset Dating Profile On Tinder, Hinge and Bumble? Creating New Profiles
A profile reset is not something that should be taken lightly nor should it be something you can do more than once, effectively. It’s a one-time event and you should deploy it once you are completely ready to unleash a new, fresh profile.
Merely making a few changes to your bio or photo order will not help. Don’t expect another reset to work as effectively as your first one or even at all. Be sure to improve your profile exhaustively before thinking about resetting.
The best times to reset your account is after a long pause, change of appearance, wardrobe update, new photos (multiple, not just 1-2), and a profile overhaul (captions, bios, prompts and answers). A profile is not meant for minimal profile iterations or improvements but rather completely new profiles.
Your dating profile should always reflect the current you (hairstyle, interests, biographical and geographical data etc.). It’s best if you take some time off whether it’s several weeks or months in between deleting an old profile and creating a new profile.

Deleting Dating Profile: Tinder, 3 Month Reset, Delete Bumble Account, Hinge Profile
Before you can reset your profile you must delete your account, not just delete the app. It is imperative that you retain all the accounts and phone numbers used to create your profile otherwise you may have a hard time resetting your account.
Using burner phones and fake Facebook accounts is pretty shady and I don’t recommend doing this. Burner phones are re-used often and can have already been used in the past. Also, creating a fake Facebook account will remove all your friends and all the benefits of having mutual friends in common used in some algorithms.
I recommend planning to delete your account and staying off apps for a period of 3 months to cool off and allow people to forget the bad profile you had. Tinder’s privacy policy states it can keep your info for up to 3 months unless you are permanently blocked, in trouble with the law, under investigation etc.
Make sure to read the fine print, and verify profile deletion as some apps are less direct about deleting profiles (some require you to verify requests via links to emails/phone numbers). This is another reason why you need to retain emails and phone numbers as you can be limited in your ability to delete accounts successfully.
Having multiple accounts (even if one is old, outdated or no longer used) can get you banned. Be persistent with customer support rather than give up or assume that an old account no longer used is not see by anyone. Often people block folks on apps and if they see a new account/profile, that can get you banned even though it was created with a new phone/email.

How To Reset Your Dating Profile On Tinder; Bumble Algorithm, Hinge Fresh Start
-Delete your account (make sure you confirm this as most apps have many layers to the cancellation process).
-Make sure you cancel all subscriptions in the app or through the appropriate paid channels i.e. iPhone, Google Wallet, Paypal, Credit Card etc.
-If you used Facebook to login to your online dating profile, open up Facebook settings > Apps & Websites > Select Logged in w/ Facebook > Select the dating app i.e. Tinder > Select Remove App > Confirm the request.
-Creating a new profile may require a new Facebook account, payment option, phone number and/or email.
-Using the same phone number, payment options, ip address, phone number or email are the easiest ways dating apps can detect duplicate accounts. Using the same photos as before is the other way dating apps can make the connections.

Volume swiping yes on every profile is the easiest way to sabotage your dating profile once it is reset. You should only swipe right on people you are interested in and have a realistic shot with.
Swiping right on someone across the country, 25 years younger than you, someone taller than you or swiping on a profile where he/she lists an attribute that is a dealbreaker that you don’t meet will only hurt you down the road
Choose your photos wisely but also order them appropriately. Having photos that look too different from each other (age, hair color, hairstyle or weight) will give users pause and when in doubt cause them to swipe left. You want a great first main profile photo but you will also be judged by your worst photo.
Avoid modeling photos, filters, skin softening, high-angled photos, photos with just a headshot, photos from a distance, photos looking away etc. Avoid selfies, intense photos, low-energy photos and photos that lack any conversation starters
Understanding what your photos suggest is a valuable assessment to avoid self-sabotage and avoid sending mixed signals about what you seek.
Make sure you have a good profile and bio. Yes, photos are the most important thing and the first thing people notice but incomplete and lazy bios suggest you are looking for something casual, you are indifferent about profiles or are just lonely and looking for a penpal.

If you reset your profile too often like Alex Hammerli does, you risk getting banned outright. Don’t risk it.
Match.com Profile Deletion, Reset, Match Account Reset
The above apps operate with algorithms and while Match.com uses algorithms as well, it has a search function whereby you can sort by date-created profiles. If you move cities or pause your subscription, your creation date remains in place.
Often times users sort by new profiles and browsing. For this reason, you may want to consider this option to bubble up to the top but also remove suspicion for being on dating apps for a long, long time if you appear at or near the bottom when sorted by newest first.
For this reason alone I recommend clients not default to looking at new profiles only as some people move, reactivate an old account and are hidden gems buried in the search results.

Hinge won’t allow users to delete photos unless they are replaced by new photos. Don’t upload more photos than you need or are good because you will be judged by your worst photo.

Delete your account. Delete the app. Wait 36-48 hours to reinstall the app. If you don’t have materially better photos or are swiping outside your league or have cringy photos, this won’t help much.
Go to settings, scroll to bottom, select delete account and then type ‘delete’ to confirm the deletion.
